What is the Law of Attraction?
The Law of Attraction is an age-old concept that states “like attracts like” or, in other words, one type of energy will attract a similar energy.
It works on the principle that you are responsible for what you create in your life. And, if you are attracting it at some level into your life, then you also have the ability to change it.
The Law of Attraction for Beginners
All matter is composed of energy. Even your thoughts and feelings carry energy.
Have you ever walked into a room where two people have just had an argument? Even if they’re no longer there, you can still feel the energy in the room.
Have you noticed how a bad mood can spread from person to person? They are reacting to the negative energy and picking it up in much the same way as catching a cold that’s going around.
However, negative (or positive) energy isn’t just something random that comes from nowhere and attaches itself to you. Sometimes you “catch” someone else’s bad mood and sometimes you can shrug it off.
What’s the difference?
It’s you – what you are thinking and feeling.
The Law of Attraction can pretty much be summed up like this: The feelings and images that you hold in your mind will manifest in your life.
If you are happy and optimistic, you will notice more things to be happy and optimistic about.
If you are negative and pessimistic, you will notice more things to be negative and pessimistic about.
Creation and Attraction
So, are you attracting or creating or a little bit of both? And how does that work?
We all have different patterns and strategies for living our lives and getting what we want. Many of these patterns are based on old beliefs, thought patterns and decisions that we are not even aware of.
These patterns and strategies determine what we believe is right or wrong, possible or impossible, good, bad or just plain ugly.
If you’re getting what you want and you’re happy with what you’re getting, then your patterns and strategies are working for you.
If, however, you aren’t happy with your results, or you feel as if you are encountering blocks that prevent you from getting what you want, chances are old patterns are getting in your way.
As Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
The problem that most people have with the Law of Attraction is that they want a particular result, but they are unable to change their patterns of thinking, believing or acting in order to get what they desire.
Conscious Awareness
The Law of Attraction requires that you become more consciously aware of your thoughts and feelings. To do this, you first have to be able to notice your thoughts.
If you’re like most people, thoughts race through your head in a never-ending stream, running so fast that you no longer even notice them. Practices such as yoga, meditation, and visualization can help you to detach from your thoughts and start to notice what you are actually thinking.
Once you are able to step back from your thoughts and notice what you are thinking, you’ll be in a much better position to discover the beliefs and negative thoughts that prevent you from getting what you want.
But that is just half of the battle. You also need to develop the ability to choose your thoughts and change them to new beliefs that are in line with what you desire.
Connect With Your Feelings
A quick way to become more conscious of your thoughts is to notice your feelings. Think about what you want, and then notice how you feel. Do you start off happy and excited, then feel nervous, worried, sad or scared?
Before you felt each feeling, you had a thought. Notice what those thoughts were. If you went from positive to negative, then you have just discovered the negative thoughts and beliefs that are preventing you from attaining your desire.
Some of these thoughts are just old habits and patterns and are easy to turn around. Some will require more effort to change.
Gratitude
If you want to bring more positive thoughts and feelings into your life, the quickest way is to practice gratitude. It’s simple really, just start to appreciate the things, people, and circumstances that you currently have in your life.
Be thankful for the chair you’re sitting in, the food on your plate and a safe place to sleep at night. Be grateful for the people in your life, your loved ones, and your pets.
Make it a habit to enjoy and appreciate everything around you. Not only does it help to neutralize old negative habits, but it also helps you to create and attract more good things to appreciate.
Synchronicities
Once you begin to change your patterns of thinking and acting and start to feel your feelings, all sorts of synchronicities will appear. You may come up with new ideas of how to get what you want, discover different ways to get there or notice other signs that your intention is being manifested.
Take Inspired Action
One of these synchronicities is inspiration. You may get new ideas or a sudden inspiration to do something that would bring you closer to your desire.
Notice your feelings. If it feels good, follow it. If it feels bad, don’t. Follow your gut or intuition.
If you think you should do something but it’s something you dread, then don’t do it. If it’s something that sounds exciting or interesting but just a little bit out of your comfort zone, then it might turn out to be just what you need.
Be open to what the Universe is offering to you but always check in with yourself first. Choose what is right for you.
When you are doing something you enjoy which is in line with your intention, your heart, and your desire, it is much easier to get into the flow.
Once you’re in the flow, then everything will seem to start to come together in an almost effortless way. You’ll begin to attract your desires because your feelings and thoughts are aligned with your intention.
But you still have to take action. The more action you take, the more synchronicities you will notice to help you create what you want.
By taking even small steps towards your desire, you align yourself both mentally and physically to attract what you desire. With the Law of Attraction, you bring your desires into your present reality, creating the life you’ve always imagined.
