Set Aside The Time
Set aside a specific time to work on your task. If it’s important enough to do, it’s important enough to set aside time for.
Give yourself a definite start and end time. Make it reasonable. Keep it long enough to make progress but short enough that you are willing to take the time to do it. When you reach your end time, stop.
If you haven’t finished and want to keep working, take a short break and come back to it. Otherwise, set up another block of time for later.
By having a ticking clock, the task becomes a priority. By having a definite end time, you won’t feel trapped thinking the task will last forever.
During this time period, remove all other distractions. Turn off your cell phone, tablet, television and all other electrical devices.

Create Your Workspace
Clear your work area of distractions. Some people can work with a cluttered desk. Others do better with a clean workspace.

Everyone has a different attention span. Some people can concentrate for almost an hour. Others lose focus after several minutes.
Notice the things that hold your attention. Perhaps you can only study for ten minutes at a time but can watch a good movie and completely lose track of time. Notice what makes it easier for you to concentrate. Is it the darkened theater? Is it being in a different environment?
