Does the Law of Attraction really work? Can something as simple as asking, believing and receiving actually help you to get what you want? Or is there more to it than that? If the Law of Attraction is not working for you, you may be overlooking an important piece of the puzzle.
How Does The Law of Attraction Work?
The Law of Attraction is based on the idea that “like attracts like” – that the feelings and images that you hold in your mind will manifest in your life.
It works on the principle that you are responsible for what you create in your life, either good or bad. What is happening in your life is a reflection of your thoughts, beliefs, decisions, and actions.
If you are not happy with your life, then you have the power to change it.
However, changing your life usually requires you to change yourself. Of course, that’s the hard part. All change must first start in your mind.
What you focus on and how you feel about it will attract more of the same feelings.
Most people tend to focus on what they don’t want and, as a result, end up creating more of that in their life.
When you focus on what you do want, it makes it a lot easier for you to get it, especially if you feel good about what you want. When you feel good, you’re open to more possibilities and motivated to get it.
Why is the Law of Attraction not working for you?
Everyone has their own personal set of beliefs and habits of thought. It’s the way you see the world around you, make decisions and get through your daily life.
Most of these thoughts and beliefs were developed when you were a child and have become so familiar over the years that you may not even be aware that they exist. It’s just the way you’re used to doing things.
Also, you tend to gravitate to the people, circumstances, ideas, and surroundings that feel comfortable to you. They’re comfortable because they are in line with your beliefs and thought patterns.
Some people find themselves continually dating the same type of person and having the same type of relationship mistakes over and over again. If you have a history of bad relationships, you may have already experienced this.
You may want a better relationship, you may visualize it, ask for it and try to manifest it, but you keep getting the same results.
Why? Because of these old beliefs and patterns.
Your Beliefs May Be Blinding You
Beliefs operate as filters.
We are constantly flooded with information on a daily basis. There is only so much that your conscious mind can process at a time, so you create habits and patterns, filtering out what seems to be relevant and ignoring what doesn’t seem possible, useful or important.
In other words, you only see what you want to see.
If you believe that you are not worthy of love, that no one will ever love you or that all relationships are doomed to failure, then you will think, act and be attracted to the people and situations that will reinforce those beliefs.
You will automatically filter out other possibilities. If someone tells you they love you and you don’t believe yourself to be loveable, then you will think they are lying (even if they are telling you the truth).
You may not intend to do this, or even be aware that you’re doing it. But that doesn’t change your actions and the way you perceive the situation.
Unless you can change these limiting beliefs and negative patterns, you will continue to create the same results.
How Does the Law of Attraction Work To Change Your Life?
That’s one of the reasons why so many people stress the thinking, feeling and visualization aspects of the Law of Attraction. In order to create positive change in your life, you have to become conscious of your thoughts and beliefs.
If you’re not getting what you want in life, it is because you have patterns of thinking and believing that prevent you from creating and attaining it.
The tenets of the Law of Attraction are simply signposts and practices that can not only show you these patterns but also help to change them.
So, does the Law of Attraction work? If you believe it does, then it does. If you don’t believe, then it never will.
